After what many have called a lackluster May, PlayStation Plus is rolling out a new batch of free games in June, including one fan favorite.
God of War, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl are set to headline Playstation Plus’ free games for June.
PlayStation announced the June lineup on its Twitter, following what many had perceived as a disappointing May lineup. “From June 7 to July 4, PlayStation Plus members can add God of War (2018), Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl to their game library,” the company wrote on its website. “When the all-new PlayStation Plus launches in your region, these titles will be available as monthly games to all PlayStation Plus members including those on the PlayStation Plus Essential plan (which includes the same benefits PlayStation Plus members get today).”
The news of June’s games coincides with the release of the revamped PlayStation Plus service, which gives gamers access to an extensive library of games depending on which tier they sign up for. On top of allowing gamers to play games from the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, it also includes classics from the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and even the PlayStation Portable. With that said, users of the new PlayStation service have already voiced a few complaints.
God of War is an action-adventure game developed by Santa Monica Studio and released in 2018. The game is the eighth release in a franchise that has received numerous awards and expanded into other media, including an upcoming TV series for Amazon Prime Video. It follows Kratos, the former Greek God of War, and his son, Atreus, as they delve into a long journey to spread the ashes of Kratos’ wife at the highest peak of the nine realms. God of War was released to universal acclaim and has sold over 19.5 million copies, making it the best-selling PlayStation 4 game of all time.
Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is a 2018 action game released for the PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The online multiplayer fighter lets players battle as a team of four against others to see who the best ninjas are. It was developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment, which is known for games such as Pac-Man, Ace Combat and Soulcalibur.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a 2021 crossover-style fighting game developed by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs. As the first console game in the Nickelodeon Super Brawl series, the platform fighter allows players to battle it out as their favorite Nickelodeon characters in a fast-paced, Super Smash Bros-esque setting. The game received mixed reviews, with many critics praising the gameplay but criticizing a lack of content.
Gamers have until Monday, June 6 to add May’s free PlayStation Plus games to their library, which includes FIFA 22, Tribes of Midgard and Curse of the Dead Gods. June’s lineup will be available for download until July 4.
