The Star Wars franchise has held its place in nearly every aspect of nerd culture, from movies to television shows and comics. Games are not an exception — the LEGO games have always been well-received by fans for their humor and further exploration of the stories.
The recently released LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is quite popular. The game has plenty of characters to choose from if players consider the events and characters of all nine movies plus extra characters from the various television shows. The best characters from LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga are of iconic status, utility, and power, and are enjoyable to use.
10 Chewbacca (Holiday Special) Is Fun & Festive
Chewbacca is a lovable Wookie. He’s one of the most recognizable members of the Star Wars universe and fans never understand a word he says. While there are several Wookies available to play as in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, including both Classic and Young Chewbacca, Chewbacca’s Holiday Special Minifigure takes the cake.
The color scheme of Chewbacca’a Holiday Special trades shades of brown and gray for white fur and red and green belts. The best part about the figure is just how much of a homemade feel it has as the fur is not fully colored in. He’s unlocked by using the code “WOOKIE” in the cheats menu.
9 Babu Frik Move Faster Than Anyone Else
Introduced as a plot character in the final chapter of The Skywalker Saga, Episode IX, Babu Frik is the droidsmith who corrupts C-3PO so he can relay the location of Exegol. Fans immediately took to him due to his cute design and chaotic energy. His LEGO form is listed under the “Extra” characters.
Babu Frik is perfect for exploration as his tiny stature causes him to move faster than most other characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which can be helpful on wide planets like Jakku.
8 Ahsoka Tano Dual Wields Lightsabers
Introduced in the cartoon Clone Wars series, Ahsoka Tano has become an important character in the franchise, connecting several of the major properties together. With recent appearances in The Mandalorian and her own show on the horizon, she is unavoidable.
In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Ahsoka is a top-tier choice for the Jedi characters. She wields two white lightsabers, allowing her to make powerful strikes and look cool while doing it. The only negative is that she is a DLC character, though the DLC is filled with solid choices.
7 The Mandalorian Brings Baby Yoda Along
Another of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s DLC characters, the titular character of The Mandalorian was released as a part of day-one DLC packs. This was expected from the game and was a selling point of the deluxe edition, so his popularity as a character choice is not unexpected.
Fans were excited to see how both Din Djarin and Grogu would be implemented in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. In a twist on expectations, the pair were bundled as Grogu follows The Mandalorian in his hover ball that automatically protects him from danger.
6 Leia (Training Flashback) Introduces Jedi Leia
Leia has been a part of Star Wars since its introduction, being the focus of the plot in Episode IV, and then having her history expanded in various games and the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series. In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Leia has 15 different character tokens including her iconic Jabba’s Palace outfit and her General’s uniform.
Under the Jedi characters, Star Wars fans get their first experience playing a Jedi Leia as she appeared in a flashback in The Rise Of Skywalker. While there are many other non-canon stories of Leia basically being a Jedi, this inclusion is a nice touch to the beloved character.
5 Droideka Is A Fast-Ranged Combatant
The Star Wars’ prequels’ droid army is overall underrated in terms of characters. The LEGO games often include lesser-known individual droids like Mr. Bones for fans to play as, but sometimes the standards can be the best.
Droideka are upgraded battle droids that have twin blasters and a shield generator. In addition to solid offense and defense, their mode of transport in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga allows them to roll around quickly, making them faster and stronger than many other characters.
4 Sith Rey Makes Lightsaber Play Fun
Mirroring a scene from Empire Strikes Back where Luke faces a dark version of himself in the Darth Vader suit, Rey briefly faces off against her evil version in a glimpse of a potential future. This dark version of Rey, named Sith Rey or Empress Palpatine, was latched onto by Star Wars fans as this not only was an interesting move for the character, but it also introduced a new double-sided lightsaber.
Though Sith Rey was only seen for a few moments in the Star Wars movies, she is a playable character in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga with dark powers and a cool lightsaber that makes sheathing and unsheathing fun.
3 Bo-Katan Kryze Can Fly Past Obstacles
The last LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga DLC-exclusive character, Bo-Katan Kryze, was introduced in the cartoons before returning to the public consciousness during Season 2 of The Mandalorian. As a true Mandalorian from Mandalore, Bo-Katan seeks the Darksaber to become the ruler of her home.
In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, she is located under the hero characters and is the best choice for one simple reason — her jetpack. Flying characters are limited in LEGO games due to their ability to bypass parts of challenges. For an easier time on many tasks, Bo-Katan is a great choice.
2 BB-8 Is Fast, Small & Powerful
BB-8 was introduced with the rest of the sequel trilogy cast as the next generation R2-D2, essentially filling the same role as his predecessor. As an Astromech droid, BB-8 assists with piloting duties alongside Poe Damron, hacking as needed, and constantly beeping.
In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga BB-8 is able to complete similar duties, which would make him a great Astromech on his own, but because of his small size, the droid is able to get into small areas like tunnels. Add in his grapple ability, and BB-8 is an exceptionally versatile character.
1 General Grievous Is A Top-Tier LEGO Character
A fan-favorite villain since his introduction in Episode II, General Grievous is a cyborg who studied lightsaber use under Count Dooku, though was not a Sith as he did not have a connection to the Force that is required. From the moment he was introduced into the LEGO games, he has been a favorite character to use thanks to his hulking figure, four lightsabers, speed, and extra abilities.
In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, these abilities include bombs and a blaster typical of the villain characters. That makes him good at ranged and close combat, not to mention his jumps are slightly higher than other characters’.
