Dragon Ball has kept its audience entertained for nearly four decades through engaging adventures, thrilling battles, and characters who are truly lovable and capable of anything. Enthusiasm for Dragon Ball is at an all-time high with the release of its newest feature film, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, which is already dominating the box office in Japan.
Audiences are excited to learn that Super Hero puts the spotlight on certain Dragon Ball characters who are often neglected, which also has the fandom curious over who may sneak into the movie in a cameo capacity.
9 Android 8 Connects Back To Red Ribbon’s Roots
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero embraces nostalgia with a storyline that’s heavily focused on the return of the Red Ribbon Army, revealing the new state-of-the-art Androids, Gamma 1 and 2. It’s refreshing to return to Red Ribbon’s very first Android from the original Dragon Ball series, Android 8.
Android 8 is one of the earliest examples of an enemy rejecting their programming and deciding to help the heroes instead of hurting them. Android 8 surprisingly survives the takedown of Red Ribbon and even briefly appears at the end of Dragon Ball Z to donate energy to Goku’s Spirit Bomb.
8 Dr. Myuu Is Another Evil Scientist Who Could Help Or Hinder Red Ribbon’s Progress
Dragon Ball is a franchise where brawn typically takes precedence over brains, but there is still no shortage of evil scientists who use their vast intellect to attempt to overthrow the planet. Red Ribbon establishes Dr. Flappe and Dr. Gero as the primary minds of its operation, but other figures such as Dr. Wheelo and Dr. Myuu also make their mark.
Dr. Myuu is a character who’s exclusive to Dragon Ball GT, but he’s essential in the creation of Super 17 as well as many other Machine Mutants. Super Hero has Dr. Hedo as its lead scientist, but it’s possible for Dr. Myuu to get officially worked into the canon along with the powerful Machine Mutants in the future.
7 Uub Has Untapped Potential That The Audience Is Ready To Explore
Some figures in Dragon Ball have obvious potential, but they never get the chance to properly step into the spotlight and rise to the occasion. Uub is a character who’s pivotal in the final few episodes of Dragon Ball Z following the time-skip after the defeat of Majin Buu.
This oblivious young boy is actually the reincarnation of Buu’s strength in a pure-hearted form, who’s destined to be an important hero in Earth’s future. Goku and Uub’s meeting at the World Martial Arts Tournament in this epilogue has yet to happen in the Dragon Ball Super timeline, but audiences are still eager for any sort of Uub content.
6 Cyborg Tao Has Survived One Red Ribbon Insurrection And Is Ready For More
The Red Ribbon Army played a crucial role back in the original Dragon Ball, and their return provides many opportunities for forgotten faces from the past to make vengeful returns. Mercenary Tao is one of Red Ribbon’s most valuable assassins, and he’s so dangerous that he can even take out his targets with just his tongue.
Tao meets an explosive end but manages to come out even stronger after a cybernetic upgrade. Cyborg Tao disappears after his momentary appearance in Dragon Ball Z, but he wouldn’t be out of place in Super Hero. He has an important connection to both Red Ribbon and Gohan.
5 A Raditz Return Is Suddenly Possible Thanks To Red Ribbon’s Surreal Sciences
Raditz is the first villain who Goku and company face in Dragon Ball Z, and he’s technically responsible for the Saiyan’s first death. The characters and storytelling in Dragon Ball have come a long way since Raditz, but Goku’s brother has firmly remained in the show’s past and has not experienced any convenient resurrections like other villains in the series.
Curiously, rumor has it that Raditz might actually show up in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero in some capacity. Red Ribbon has advanced gene technology and robotics at their disposal, and perhaps they create an Android version of Raditz as a way to make this character relevant again.
4 Android 21 Is An Important Character From Dr. Gero’s Past Who’s Been Limited To Video Games
Dragon Ball video games have been a reliable source of content during the years when the anime and manga were dark, and they’ve even become opportunities for Akira Toriyama to create original characters.
Bonyu, a former member of the Ginyu Force, as well as Android 21, are two of Toriyama’s more popular video game creations, the latter of which has appeared in several different games. Considering Android 21’s ties to Dr. Gero’s past, it wouldn’t be difficult for the character to briefly show up in a flashback with Gero, officially working her way into the canon.
3 Cell Is Gohan’s Ultimate Rival, And There’s Never Been A Better Time For A Rematch
The Cell Saga in Dragon Ball Z is an important turning point for the franchise, especially when it comes to Gohan’s character development. Despite Cell’s resilience and strength, he’s not a character that’s officially returned outside of Dragon Ball GT and inconsequential filler appearances.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero presents a Gohan-centric story, and this alone is a rewarding reason to finally bring back Cell so that these two can have a superpowered showdown. There’s speculation that Red Ribbon will not only find a way to revive Cell but to also introduce a new form for the vengeful villain.
2 Arale Is An Overpowered Gag Character Who Represents Everything Red Ribbon Is Not
Dragon Ball is Akira Toriyama’s greatest success, but he’s far from a one-trick pony, and another one of his popular creations is the comedic Dr. Slump. There’s actually been a fair bit of crossover between Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump as both Goku and Arale appear in each other’s series.
Arale’s return in Dragon Ball Super is one of the funniest episodes of the franchise and also demonstrates the utility of a gag character against Super Saiyan Blue strength. Arale has robotic roots, so it wouldn’t be difficult to fit her into the Red Ribbon narrative, even if it was contained to a quick cutaway where Dr. Norimaki laments the continued success of Red Ribbon.
1 Moro Is A Celebrated Manga Villain Who Audiences Want To See In Motion
It’s been a long time since there’s been any new Dragon Ball Super anime content, yet the series’ corresponding manga has progressed forward into several satisfying story arcs. Before the plot of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was announced, there was speculation that this new movie could cover the events of the Moro Saga.
That’s obviously not happening, with Red Ribbon’s Gamma 1 and 2 set to be the major antagonists, but it’s still possible that the movie’s ending could tease Moro’s arrival. It’s likely that more Dragon Ball Super movies are on the way, and a post-credit scene that sets up Moro, or even Granolah, to appease manga fans would be a delightful surprise.
