Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Bruce Campbell’s Pizza Poppa from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may reappear at some point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A recently released deleted scene from the movie shows Campbell’s food vendor swearing vengeance against the titular sorcerer, stating, “Doctor Strange has not seen the last of the Pizza Poppa.” In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the master of the mystic arts enchants the man’s hand to repeatedly punched him in the face for about three weeks.

The moment is a reference to a horror movie classic, conceptually reflecting the scene from Evil Dead II where Campbell’s Ash fights his own Deadite-possessed hand. Sam Raimi, the creator behind the Evil Dead series, didn’t just draw on his own experience with scary movies when directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness; the film also pays homage to 2002’sThe Ring, 1985’s Day of the Dead, 1980’s The Shining and 1976’s Carrie.

The 28th film in the MCU, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premiered in theaters on May 6 and on Disney+ on June 22. The story follows the titular sorcerer as he attempts to protect a young woman, America Chavez, who has the power to travel the multiverse at will, from Wanda Maximoff/the Scarlet Witch. Despite being a former member of the Avengers and fighting against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, the Doctor Strange sequel sees her transform into a full supervillain willing to murder a child in order to reunite with her twins, Billy and Tommy.

While Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has performed generally well with critics, it has split superhero fans. Many argue that Wanda’s transformation invalidates her character growth from WandaVision, asserting that her overall narrative arc is an example of the MCU’s problematic handling of female characters.

It is currently unknown if or when Campbell’s Pizza Poppa will reappear in the MCU; however, the actor is keeping himself busy. Most notably, it was recently announced that he will write a new six-issue Evil Dead mini-comic book series titled DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock Vs. The Army of the Dead. The story will follow the titular soldier as he battles Nazi zombies during the end of WWII. Moreover, Disney fans are campaigning for Campbell to be cast in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Hercules as the god of the underworld Hades, and the actor is on board, stating, “not sure where this inter-web rumor began, but I back it.”
