Authentic footage from The Mandalorian Season 3 debuted at Star Wars Celebration 2022 panel, giving fans the first glimpse at the upcoming season. The teaser trailer revealed where Din Djarin and Grogu’s journey would take them next. Although details about the third season of the Star Wars series are tightly under wraps, the upcoming installment is expected to dive deeper into the Mandalorian culture, following Mando’s quest for redemption and his journey in Mandalore.
Returning characters in the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian include Bo-Katan Kryze (Kate Sackhoff), Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) and Grogu. The beloved Star Wars character Babu Frik was seemingly featured in the surfaced footage, and Thor: Love and Thunder actor and director Taika Waititi is also reportedly returning to the show after having been absent since the first season.
Although The Mandalorian Season 3 won’t arrive on Disney+ until 2023, the show’s fourth season is already in the works. In an interview, show creator Jon Favreau confirmed that he has begun working on the script for The Mandalorian‘s Season 4. “With television, we’re very lucky that we don’t have to rush things through into an hour-and-a-half, two hours,” Favreau explained. “We get to tell stories slowly. So now, as Dave [Filoni]’s doing Ahsoka, it’s very much informing the writing that I’m doing for [The Mandalorian] Season 4. It becomes — how should I put it — more precise.”
The Mandalorian Season 3 premieres on Disney+ in February 2023. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Disney+.
