A talented cosplayer has captured the spirit of Jack Frost from DreamWorks’ Rise of the Guardians with an icy cold cosplay.
The costume was created by a Ukrainian cosplayer who goes by the username Firiat_Cat, and a photo was posted on Reddit. The cosplay showcases the character’s iconic spiky white hair, mischievous smirk and tattered jeans and hoodie. Blue energy can be seen crackling around his wooden shepherd’s hook and clothing, hinting at Jack’s icy powers.
The Jack Frost costume is only one of the many, many impressive cosplays that can be found on Firiat_Cat’s Reddit account. There are also photos of Nick Wilde from Disney’s Zootopia, Star Guardian Ezreal from League of Legends, Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel, Anakin Skywalker from Stars Wars and gender-bent versions of Ariel from My Little Mermaid and Usagi from Sailor Moon.
Written by David Lindsay-Abaire (Oz the Great and Powerful) and Peter A. Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Rise of the Guardians premiered in 2012. Based on William Joyce’s book series The Guardians of Childhood and his short film The Man in the Moon, the film sees Jack Frost teaming up with Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and the Sandman to stop the Boogie Man, Pitch Black, from seeking revenge and plunging the world into a new dark age of fear.
Chris Pine stars as the main character alongside Jude Law as Pitch, Alex Baldwin as Santa, Hugh Jackman as the Easter Bunny and Isla Fisher as the Tooth Fairy. DreamWorks’ Rise of the Guardians received generally positive reviews from critics and was recognized by several prominent awards institutions in the entertainment industry; notably, it won Best Animated Feature at the Hollywood Film Festival and was nominated for the best animated movie categories at the Annie Awards and Golden Globes.
A tie-in video game was developed by D3 Publisher and released around the same time as the film. Rise of the Guardians: The Video Game gives players control of the titular guardians to battle against Pitch and his minions in different locales from the movie, and is available on the Wii, Wii U, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS.
A possible sequel was teased by Joyce back in 2013 when he revealed that he was once again in talks with DreamWorks; however, no additional information has been released since.
