The following contains spoilers for Immortal X-Men #4, now on sale from Marvel Comics.

Mister Sinister is confronted with an uncomfortable truth in Marvel’s Immortal X-Men #4, though the character is ultimately kidnapped before he can take conclusive action on the matter.

Immortal X-Men #4 comes from writer Kieron Gillen, artist Michele Bandini, color artist David Curiel, letterer VC’s Clayton Cowles and designers Tom Muller and Jay Bowen. In the issue, the Quiet Council of Krakoa is holding a meeting when the truth finally catches up with Mister Sinister. Councilmembers invite Cycplos in and, using her powers, Emma Frost projects the moment in X-Men #11 when Scott Summers learned Dr. Stasis was a version of Mister Sinister who claims to be the “real” Nathaniel Essex.

Mister Sinister sits there in confusion for a few moments before making a run for it. He makes it back to his laboratory in one piece, though his bewilderment only continues to mount. “A club on my forehead?” he says to himself. “Ridiculous. It’s not me. I’d never be in a club that would have me as a member.

Mister Sinister briefly considers burning everything to the ground and resetting the timeline; however, an interaction from earlier with Destiny causes him to pause and question the idea. Instead, Mister Sinister tells his machine to “purge all [his] personalities” and do a “clean install,” with the thought that he can “always blow it all up if it gets too bad” still lingering in the back of Mister Sinister’s head.

Mister Sinister returns to the Quiet Council and tells everyone he wants to help them get to the bottom of the Dr. Stasis situation. Nobody is buying what Mister Sinister is selling, but he’s mysteriously kidnapped by a beam of light that seemingly takes him away from Krakoa before anything can be done. “Please say he’s dead,” Emma says while standing over the spot Mister Sinister disappeared from. “We’re overdue for a stroke of luck.” Destiny responds, “No. I don’t think so. I…He’s been kidnapped.”

Emma returns home and narrates how Destiny believes Mister Sinister’s kidnapping has something to do with an incoming war. In Marvel’s A.X.E. Eve of Judgment #1, Makkari and Ajak of the Eternals reveal they’ve obtained an imprisoned Mister Sinister, unbeknownst to Phastos. The implication suggests the Eternals have kidnapped Mister Sinister and will now use him as some sort of weapon or asset in the Judgment Day conflict, which pits the X-Men, Eternals and Avengers against one another.

Mister Sinister also shows up in the X-Men: Hellfire Gala (2022) #1 one-shot when he’s seen working with Moira, Feilong and Orchis to infiltrate the X-Men’s annual event. With their help, Moira is able to break into the Hellfire Gala disguised as Mary Jane Watson. Peter Parker and Wolverine eventually realize this and chase after Moira/MJ once she leaves, but the one-shot ends with Moira going to the Eternals and giving them some vital pieces of information for the upcoming war.

Immortal X-Men #4 features cover art by Mark Brooks and variant cover art by Phil Noto, Meghan Hetrick and Betsy Cola. The issue is on sale now from Marvel.
