Dead by Daylight announced an Alien chapter.
As per Polygon, the Xenomorph from the Alien franchise is making its way into Dead by Daylight. The space creature, known for its relentless pursuit of prey, will be the next licensed character to join the roster. With its debut in the 1979 film Alien and subsequent appearances in various movies and video games, the Xenomorph is undoubtedly one of the most terrifying monsters in cinematic history.
The recently released teaser trailer for the Alien DLC showcased an eerie new map with an unmistakable Alien theme. Fans are buzzing with excitement over the possibility of exploring the Nostromo ship from the original Alien movie, which would perfectly complement the Xenomorph’s deadly presence. For those unfamiliar with the Xenomorph, it first burst onto the silver screen in 1979’s Alien, terrifying audiences with its relentless pursuit of prey. Since then, the creature has appeared in various movies, including Aliens, Alien 3, and Alien Resurrection, as well as the horror video game Alien: Isolation, where players faced horror fifteen years after the events of the original film.
Dead by Daylight is known for its unique asymmetric horror gameplay, where four players assume the roles of helpless Survivors trying to escape a nightmarish realm controlled by a malevolent Entity. The game’s roster features Killers from different time periods, dimensions, and pop culture, and now the Xenomorph will join their ranks. From K-Pop stars to medieval knights and characters from Silent Hill and Resident Evil, Dead by Daylight has proven its versatility in creating a horrifying experience for players.
This will not be the first deep space Killer to join the game, as The Singularity from the Dead Transmission chapter paved the way for extraterrestrial horrors. But the Xenomorph’s inclusion takes the terror to a whole new level, as players can expect to encounter a relentless and fearsome foe unlike any other. Moreover, there’s speculation that fans might see a familiar Survivor from the Alien franchise. Could the resilient Ellen Ripley enter the fray? The game already boasts an impressive lineup of Survivors, including Jill Valentine, Ash Williams, and even the enigmatic Nicolas Cage himself! If Ripley does join the roster, she will undoubtedly be a formidable addition.
Dead by Daylight chapters usually consist of a Killer, a Survivor, and a new map. With the Xenomorph confirmed as the Killer, players can expect a unique set of powers and perks that will challenge even the most skilled Survivors. The focus on the environment in the teaser suggests that the new map will be a haunting and atmospheric setting, enhancing the overall horror experience. For many players, the addition of Alien-themed content has been a long-cherished wish. The collaboration between Behaviour Interactive and 20th Century Studios is a dream come true, even if the timing caught some fans off guard.
On Aug 8, developer Behaviour Interactive will unveil more details about the upcoming Alien chapter.
