The latest trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 showcased three new playable fighters, placing particular attention on Reptile and his acid spit.
The video, which debuted at the fighting game tournament EVO, teases Reptile’s redesign, showcasing his ability to transition between his human and lizard forms at will while also confirming that he retains his powers of invisibility in the franchise reboot. His move set includes a variety of short and fast combos paired with some massive zoning attacks and quick transitions around the stage. His Fatality shows the fan-favorite fighter transforming into his lizard state and consuming his opponent only to regurgitate their acid-drenched torso and crush it with his massive claws.
The trailer also showcased Havik and Ashrah, both of whom have a history with Mortal Kombat but aren’t necessarily within the mainstream roster. The fighters were first introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deception, the sixth mainline entry in the franchise that was released in 2004. Both characters have received substantial redesigns to their move sets and appearances, with Havik’s magical regeneration taking center stage while Ashrah’s blinding sword skills are her particular focus.
