In the wake of Hawaii’s recent wildfire disasters, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom‘s Jason Momoa does not want anyone visiting Maui County for relaxation purposes.

“Maui is not the place to have your vacation right now,” Momoa posted on his Instagram page, adding, “DO NOT TRAVEL TO MAUI. Do not convince yourself that your presence is needed on an island that is suffering this deeply. Mahalo to everyone who has donated and shown aloha to the community in this time of need.” Additionally, the Hawaiian native directed his subscribers to an Āina Momona fundraiser raising money for the Hawaii Community Foundation Maui County Strong Fund, as well as a website link where they can donate to relief efforts.

The wildfires, which struck Maui County on August 8, have resulted in the deaths of almost 90 people at the time of this article. Additionally, these fires devastated the historic town of Lahaina while also leaving hundreds of residents displaced from their homes. In a separate Instagram post, Momoa described the state of Lahaina as “It looks like a bomb was dropped right on the town. I can’t believe this happened and I’m praying that everyone that’s unaccounted for gets reunited with their ‘ohana. This is probably the worst disaster that I’ve lived through so far. As we honor the memories of Lāhaina’s past, let us rebuild and restore this historic town.”

Prior to the wildfires, Momoa made his Fast & Furious debut as Fast X‘s Dante Reyes, with many critics praising his over-the-top performance as the unhinged son of Fast Five villain Herman Reyes. This sentiment was echoed by Momoa’s co-star Michelle Rodriguez and director Louis Leterrier, who told CBR, “We wanted to create Dante’s yin to Dom’s yang. We wanted [them to be] complimentary — Dom has no hair, [and] Dante has nothing but hair. Dom wears nothing but black. Dante likes colors. Dom has the cross, [and] Dante has a weird devil belt on his chest.” Additionally, Momoa cameoed as Arthur Curry in The Flash‘s post-credit scene, his second recent Aquaman cameo following an appearance in Peacemaker‘s season finale alongside Ezra Miller.

Momoa will return as Aquaman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, one of the last DCEU-era films set in James Gunn’s DCU timeline. Leading up to its release, the movie underwent a number of reshoots, including the removal of Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne/Batman scenes at Gunn and Peter Safran’s insistence. Other reports claim that Warner Bros. executives considered delaying the Aquaman sequel until next year, but so far the movie has retained its existing release date.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom opens in theaters on Dec. 20.
