My Adventures With Supeman Episode 8 will see the Man of Steel grappling with his ability to hear things he really shouldn’t.
The promo, which was shared to YouTube, sees Superman struggling to put aside his duties as a hero since he can hear whenever someone in Metropolis needs help. When his friend Jimmy Olsen asks him what it’s like to have superhearing, Clark responds, with comedic horror in voice, that he can hear too much, suggesting that the chatter he’s picking up isn’t meant for his ears.
Adjusting to his superhero is just another challenge that the young Kal-El must face in My Adventures With Superman, a series that chronicles his journey of self-discovery and coming of age. Voiced by Jack Quaid, the latest animated version of the Man of Steel is meant to evoke a more light-hearted, fun-loving version of the character, harkening back to the likes of Christopher Reeves. “What I love about the character is that he’s a person who wants to do the right thing. To see a superhero doing something super and heroic is very heartwarming to me,” Quaid explained when asked what drew him to the role of Superman.
Saving Superman’s Home
Yet playing two distinctly different characters in the form of Clark Kent and Superman posed a unique challenge to the actor, given that his portrayals were limited to his vocals. “In this series, he’s a younger Clark who is becoming Superman for the first time. So I wanted it to be subtle — it would have been weird for my version of Clark to have this really exaggerated, ‘Hello, I’m Superman!’ voice,” Quaid said. “Also, I don’t think he really wants to put on this air of ‘I’m stronger than everyone else,’ you know? That’s not really his vibe.”
My Adventures With Superman is DC Studios’ latest animated adaptation of the beloved character, following the up-and-coming hero as he attempts to balancing his normal life as Clark Kent with the larger-than-life heroics of Superman. The show has earned plenty of praise for its vibrant animation and uplifting writing that has resulted in the reimagining of several popular characters. Beyond Quaid, the show also stars Alice Lee as Lois Lane, Ishmel Sahid as Jimmy Olsen and Darrell Brown as Perry White.
My Adventures With Superman airs new episodes every Thursday on Adult Swim.
