According to a new rumor doing the rounds online, Secret Wars‘ Battleworld may show up in Deadpool 3.
Per notable insider and scooper Daniel Richtman, the cobbled-together world will feature in Wade Wilson’s third live-action film. Further details on how Battleworld will be incorporated into the story are currently unknown but some fans have pointed out that it could be represented similarly to how Loki depicted the Void. It’s worth noting that at the time of writing this remains pure speculation and Marvel Studios and Disney have yet to offer any kind of verification on the rumor.
While Deadpool 3 may have halted production in accordance with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, rumors regarding the film continue to swirl. Another popular report that recently did the rounds claimed that Emma Corrin would star as Cassandra Nova, the villainous twin sister of Charles Xavier while a different scooper stated that popular musician Taylor Swift will appear as Dazzler. Similar to Battleworld, these have yet to be confirmed so a grain of salt is recommended.
Marvel Heroes Abound
Beyond the aforementioned instances, plenty of surprises have been confirmed by Marvel Studios when it comes to what fans can expect to see in Deadpool 3. Hugh Jackman is confirmed to be playing Wolverine again after he previously stated that he was done with the role after 2017’s Logan. Pictures taken of the movie’s set revealed that he’s even donned a more comics-accurate costume of bright yellow and blue. Jennifer Garner will also return to the role of Elektra, a part she played in the cult-classic 2003 Daredevil movie.
Speaking about what it was like to work on such a secretive yet exciting project, Corrin described the process with a great deal of enthusiasm mixed with bewilderment. “I was like, ‘Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.’ It’s such an intricate world. There’s so much to it, it’s an absolute mind-fuck,” they said. “All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back and this person’s dead… it’s amazing. It’s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it. Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that it’s self-aware, and critical of its own inner-workings.”
Deadpool 3 is currently slated to arrive in theaters on May 3, 2024.
