Marvel’s Moon Knight is set to once again juggle his dual personalities, Marc Spector and Steven Grant, for an electrifying return in Vengeance of the Moon Knight #1.
Following the upcoming #28–30 issues in Moon Knight‘s 9th volume, which will wrap up the ongoing storyline, the series’ writer Jed MacKay and artist Alessandro Cappuccio will once again reunite for the next chapter of the antihero’s life.

MacKay told Marvel, “Moon Knight may be dying, but Vengeance of the Moon Knight rises, clawing itself from the grave!” He further empathized on how despite the Midnight Mission’s tragic loss, the next chapters will manage to showcase Moon Knight in his usual state. “As the Midnight Mission reels from a recent loss… and yet, Moon Knight still stalks the night time streets? Despite the apocalyptic events of Moon Knight #28-30, we have plenty left to tell in the story of the Moon Knight,” he added.
Cappuccio expressed his desire to keep working with MacKay and fellow writer Tom Brevoort for a longer run. “This new Moon Knight cycle will hold several surprises for readers,” he said. “I look forward to being able to show them to you in the coming months.” He also talked about the series’ introduction of a new suit for Moon Knight and how it brings forth a style inspired by ancient Egyptian armor while preserving the character’s essence. “He is a new Moon Knight in both appearance and spirit and needed a change of look to suit the situation as you will see!”
MacKay and Cappuccio, in collaboration with Brevoort, Rachelle Rosenberg and Federico Sabbatini, have been steering Moon Knight’s adventures since 2021. They introduced new characters like Hunter’s Moon and revived his arch-nemesis, Black Spectre. In the remaining three issues, the wrath of Khonshu, the god of the moon and vengeance, will finally be awakened, and a new and frightening Moon Knight will emerge, driven by a thirst to fight. This mysterious figure will don an entirely black attire as a symbol of mourning, and he will step into Marc Spector’s shoes, marking a deadlier era in Vengeance of the Moon Knight.
VENGEANCE OF THE MOON KNIGHT #1 will arrive in bookstores on Jan. 3, 2024. In the meantime, Moon Knight #28 will be available on Oct. 18 from Marvel Comics.
