There are several vibrant characters who make up the cast of Arcane. For the most part, all of them are easy to root for in some way. Even characters who’ve committed heinous acts receive a scene that begins to redeem them. The show recognizes people’s traits aren’t black-and-white; there’s nuance to everyone. That recognition makes Arcane’s cast feel like living, breathing people rather than characters.
No matter how irredeemable a character’s actions make them appear, Arcane manages to garner sympathy from fans. Even so, with a cast which contains so many fan-favorite characters, it only makes sense that there will be those who simply don’t compare.
9 Mylo Is Still A Child, But Constantly Looks Down On Powder
It’s speculated that the reason Mylo acts the way he does towards Powder is that the two of them are both seen as more-or-less “useless” members of the group. Mylo’s constantly seen making fun of Powder, putting down her abilities, or straight-up telling Vi that Powder should be left behind when they go on missions.
Mylo is still young at the start of the series, and due to the tragedy of the third episode, fans never get to see how he could’ve developed. Despite the fact he can be irritating during many of his on-screen moments, Mylo’s tragic experience garners sympathy from fans.
8 Silco Is Responsible For Flooding The Lanes With Shimmer
Silco may turn into everyone’s favorite adoptive dad figure after he takes in Jinx, but that isn’t enough to make him likable. Although he deeply cares for Jinx, Silco passes his own trauma onto her. Additionally, he convinces Jinx that Vi doesn’t care for her, and meant to leave her, which is untrue.
Silco is an incredibly ruthless and dangerous crime-lord who began the reign of the Chem-Barons in Zaun. He’s also the one responsible for introducing the Underground to Shimmer. He floods the lanes with Shimmer after Vander’s passing, without a care for Shimmer’s effects on the citizens.
7 Shoola Is Okay With The Hexgates Remaining Open, Even If It Endangers Lives
Shoola is one of the members of the Council. Not much is known about her character — many fans don’t even remember her name by the end— and she’s only seen a few times. During the Council’s conversation about whether the Hexgates should remain open or not, Shoola pushes for them to stay open, even when Jayce and Medarda are worried this will put more lives in danger. She’s also quick to shoot Jayce down after he mentions magic. Aside from her gorgeous design, there’s not much to like about Shoola.
6 Sevika Antagonizes Vi And Jinx, Making Her Hard To Like
Sevika turns her loyalties to Silco after becoming disillusioned with Vander and his vision of how the Undercity should be run. She believes violence is the only true recourse they have against the Enforcers, and she soon becomes Silco’s top enforcer.
Sevika’s a powerful character in her own right, and she creates some enjoyable scenes, such as when she looks as if she’s about to betray Silco but remains loyal. However, due to the fact Sevika antagonizes Vi and Jinx — two fan-favorite characters — it’s hard to root for her.
5 Cassandra Kiramman Is A Snooty, Privileged Aristocrat
Caitlyn may be one of the most well-liked characters from Arcane, but the same can’t be said about her mother, Cassandra. Cassandra reflects negative traits associated with aristocracy, looking down on anyone from the Undercity, and cutting Jayce off without hesitation after his Trial.
Cassandra doesn’t agree with her daughter’s line of work, and actively works to get in Caitlyn’s way. Whether that’s by stationing Caitlyn close by, or speaking to the Sheriff to get Caitlyn removed as an Enforcer, none of Cassandra’s actions paint her as a likable character.
4 Ambessa Medarda Disowns Her Daughter
Ambessa Medarda is Mel’s mother. All fans know about Ambessa before she’s revealed is that she banished Mel from the family for “not living up to her standards.” This confuses many viewers, as Mel seems to be an incredibly powerful, influential, and successful woman.
Ambessa disowned her daughter because she “couldn’t stand the look” in Mel’s eyes when Ambessa “made the necessary decisions” to keep them safe. Mel judged Ambessa for her cruel methods of ruling, and Ambessa couldn’t handle how it made her feel.
3 Deckard Is Too Cocky For Simply Being Silco’s Underling
Deckard is one of Silco’s henchmen, and it’s heavily implied he’s an orphan taken in by Silco. Sadly, the story doesn’t draw attention to this in a way that would make him sympathetic in comparison to his crimes. Deckard is presented as an overly-cocky character who will do anything to obtain power, only taking a small amount of convincing from Silco to down his first vial of Shimmer. It doesn’t take long for his character to devolve after that, becoming obsessed with his “next hit” — as shown by the heavy withdrawal symptoms he suffers. Deckard also seeks revenge on Vi’s group.
2 Finn Tries Getting Silco’s Closest Enforcer To Betray Him
Initially, Finn was more than happy to work for Silco, after seeing how Silco could take down Vander. Finn viewed Vander as a serious threat and was happy to have him out of the way. After several of Jinx’s screw-ups, however, he lost faith and started to instead turn against Silco.
Finn attempts to rally the other Chem-Barons together to revolt against Silco, leading to the infamous gas scene. Finn makes other attempts to end Silco’s life, and since so many people love Silco as a villain, it hurts Finn’s likability.
1 Marcus Represents The Worst Side Of The Piltover Enforcers
Despite two scenes that try to “redeem” Marcus by showing him with his daughter, it’s not enough to make Marcus likable. He’s the one who initially threatens The Last Drop and shatters any hope of remaining peace between the Undercity and Topside.
Marcus is cocky and believes he’s in a position of authority. In reality, Marcus allows Silco to pull his strings the entire time while ignoring the plight of the Undercity. He states Greyson was a “good woman,” but if Marcus truly believes that, he’d try to emulate her character rather than allow himself to become as corrupt as everyone else with power.
