Netflix uses a Stranger Things meme to promise fans of Lucifer they’ll get a blooper reel from the show’s final season, which aired in September.
Months after the final season of Lucifer aired on Netflix, a blooper reel from it has been promised — courtesy of a meme featuring Joyce from another of Netflix’s supernatural hits, Stranger Things.
The official Netflix Geeked Twitter, which focuses on updates about the streaming service’s sci-fi, fantasy and horror content, posted on Sunday to say, “yes, yes, Lucifans, i’ve seen your questions about bloopers… will have an update to share soon,” along with the “devil” emoji often used by the show’s fandom. The tweet included an image from Stranger Things, in which Winona Ryder’s Joyce Byers stares in shock at a page she’s holding, but beneath that it’s revealed to be a ransom note which reads “RELEASE THE LUCIFER S6 BLOOPERS” in mismatched letters.
Stranger Things recently released the first volume of its fourth season, which broke Netflix’s previous premiere viewing record and has fans pumped to find out what happens next in the Duffer Brothers’ 1980s small town horror series.
Lucifer, on the other hand, is based on the DC/Vertigo Comics character of the same name created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg. The series originally aired on Fox but was canceled after three seasons. At that point, Netflix revived it for a fourth season, which premiered in 2019, and kept the show through its conclusion. Behind-the-scenes content, including bloopers, was released for Lucifer Season 5, but so far there’s been no public look at the fun and blunders on the set of Season 6.
Lucifer follows the Devil on a vacation from ruling Hell as he attempts to understand humanity and his place in it. Season 6, which aired in September 2021, was an additional renewal after the series was originally intended to end after its fifth season. The extra arc changed the status quo one more time, but served to provide more closure for the characters and also introduced a new one, Brianna Hildebrand’s rebellious half-angel Rory. Although some fans weren’t fully satisfied for the bittersweet ending given to Lucifer and Chloe, the series remains a favorite for many.
The first seven episodes of Stranger Things 4 are currently available to stream on Netflix, with the remaining two episodes releasing on July 1. All six seasons of Lucifer are also available on Netflix.
