Following a killer second season, Hulu’s popular mystery series Only Murders in the Building is officially full-steam ahead for Season 3.
Following the release of its second season, Hulu’s popular show Only Murders in the Building has been renewed for Season 3.
In a statement, Craig Erwich, President of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, explained the decision to keep the show going. “Only Murders in the Building is the true crown jewel of our slate,” he said. “Its appeal across generations, the intersection of humor and heart, and its truly original approach are a hallmark of and testament to Dan, John, Steve, Marty, and Selena’s work.”
Erwich added, “We are grateful to be able to continue telling the stories of Charles, Oliver and Mabel to viewers that have consistently shown us they crave more of this story.”
Only Murders in the Building follows three true-crime obsessed neighbors, Mabel (Selena Gomez), Charles (Steve Martin), and Oliver (Martin Short), who find themselves caught up in a murder mystery of their own. Season 2 sees the trio dealing with the aftermath of the public thinking they were somehow implicated in a murder themselves. There is no word yet on the plot of Season 3 of Only Murders, but based on co-creators Steve Martin and John Hoffman’s knack for humor and dark storylines, it’s safe to assume there are a lot more laughs and murders on the horizon.
In addition to yet another season of Only Murders, those involved in the show have a lot on their plate for the foreseeable future. Gomez’s upcoming acting roles include an adaptation of Silvia Vasquez Lavado’s book In the Shadow of the Mountain, which she is also producing, where she stars as a woman who uses mountaineering to escape from her dark past, and Spiral, a film about a young woman whose body begins to deteriorate due to her excessive use of social media.
Gomez is also a producer on Only Murders and is continuing that role on a TV series called 15 Candles which follows the lives of Latina teens leading up to their quinceañeras, as well as another show called Rising, which tells the story of a girl in a low-income Latino neighborhood with big goals and dreams.
Seasons 1 and 2 of Only Murders in the Building are currently available to stream on Hulu.
