Star Trek ‘Phase 2’ set to kick-off on Paramount+

Paramount+ is set to launch the Star Trek television franchise’s second phase within the Star Trek: Discovery continuity. Reportedly, Star Trek boss Alex Kurtzman also plans to release a new Paramount+ exclusive Star Trek movie every two years. The Section 31 movie, which will star Academy Award-winning actor Michelle Yeoh, was initially conceived as a series by Kurtzman. The series was reworked into a film to avoid the oversaturation of Star Trek streaming shows. Yeoh’s Oscar turn in the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once and her busy schedule also influenced the decision.
