A horrifying poster reveals a new sneak peek at Saw X, revealing a previously-unseen trap developed by the Jigsaw Killer.
Set for a release this fall, Saw X has just gotten its first official poster from Lionsgate. The poster reveals a Jigsaw Killer victim strapped into goggles outfitted with plastic tubes over the eyes. It’s not going to be hard for horror fans to imagine what might happen next if the poor soul wearing the goggles fails to accomplish the task assigned by Jigsaw. Chances are, filmgoers will be seeing exactly what happens when Saw X is released in September, bringing along the deadly new trap… and likely several others.
Saw X is essentially Saw 1.5, as it will be set between the first and second movies. That explains how Tobin Bell is able to return to reprise his role as John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, as the character was killed off several movies ago. It was also reported that Shawnee Smith will return as Amanda Young, one of the Jigsaw Killer’s apprentices. Kevin Greutert directed the feature film using a screenplay by Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. Mark Burg and Orek Koules produced.
Saw X Goes Back to the Roots of the Franchise
In the film, per Lionsgate’s official synopsis, “John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back. The most chilling installment of the Saw franchise yet explores the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s most personal game. Set between the events of Saw I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, John returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through a series of ingenious and terrifying traps.”
The Saw franchise was launched with the original feature film in 2003. The film introduced Bell’s Jigsaw, though his identity as the killer was not revealed until the very end. That would also establish the franchise staple of utilizing a major plot twist to conclude the story, a part of the franchise that would remain consistent throughout the sequels. After the original seven movies were released, two soft reboots would follow with Jigsaw releasing in 2017 and Spiral hitting theaters in 2021. The killers would change, but the core concept was always the same, featuring terrified victims finding themselves trying to escape horrific traps.
Saw X will be released in movie theaters on Sept. 29, 2023, where it will be competing against PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie.
